biography

Will Conyers has worked extensively in all branches of the entertainment industry since the age of 6 - from piano bars to opera, cabaret to rock opera and from the theatre to film and T.V soap opera. A graduate of the National Theatre Drama School (1980), he returned there to be the founding Director of the Musical Theatre Course (1996-1998). He also studied with esteemed NY Acting and Music Theatre teacher, Carol-Fox Prescott.

The  An Evening With Catherine Porter, Use What You Got, Topol In Fiddler On The Roof , LazyTown Live, Is There Life After High School?, Closer Than Ever, Dutch Courage, Nile Blue, McCubbin, & Many Major Corporate Theatre Functions and tertiary college showcases.

He was chosen to direct Judy Garland's daughter, Lorna Luft, in The Power of Humanity Ball for the Red Cross and was thrilled to be invited to direct Tony Award-winning writers, Stephen Flaherty, Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical The Musical, Rocky, Anastasia) and Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked, Pippin)  in east coast tour concerts celebrating their works (2009-10).

 

Will has appeared many times on Neighbours, and has enjoyed featured roles on The Flying Doctorsand Skirts. He also created the roles of the French Cook, and Rocky, The Frilled-Neck Lizard for the ABC series, Lift Off.

 

Will has lectured at almost all the major tertiary performing arts institutions in Acting, Voice and Musical Theatre and is regularly asked to adjudicate in Festivals and Eistedfodds. He, along with Nancye Hayes AM OAM, was chosen to take up an Artist-Residence at WAAPA in 1995. For 5 years, Will was also the host of the hugely successful Broadway at Bedtime on JOY 94.9 and was the Artistic Director of Downstairs at Alma's.

 

Recently, Will, worked with internationally-awarded director, Cameron Menzies, on two productions of STATUS – The Play (Vic Arts Centre) and on a new Australian musical, The White Mouse.
